Progressivement, des structures menant des actions localessur la biodiversité (conservatoires d’espaces naturels, collectivités territoriales, acteurs dumonde agricole...) souhaitent intégrerle programme avec un objectif double : contribuer à un projetnational et accéder à une vision locale desdynamiques de la biodiversité. Adapter la démarche Vigie-nature pour répondre à une problématique locale tout en s’intégrant au programme nationaldemande de respecter un certain nombre d’étapes pour que chacun des acteurs puissenty trouver un intérêt. Localement, l'intérêt estde bénéficier immédiatement d’un dispositif structuré qui a fait ses preuves depuis plusieurs années à grande échelle. L’acteur local peut ainsi utiliser une méthodologie, des outils standardisés et profiter d'un réseau pour pouvoir confronter ses résultats locaux avec des données à plus large échelle. Au niveau national, c’est autant d’observations en plus qui permettent de faire vivre les observatoires, mais c’est aussi une opportunité pour alimenter les questions de recherches grâce aux questionnements locales et aux échanges avec les réseaux d’acteurs sur l’ensemble du territoire. The effects of transport infrastructure are more documented for terrestrial mammals, birds and amphibians than for bats. To assess the impacts of roads on bat activity, we carried out full-night acoustic recordings of bat calls at 306 sampling points at different distances from a major road at three study sites in France. To assess the relationship between bat activity and the distance to the major road, we performed generalized linear mixed model analyses for thirteen different species or groups and additionally explored the non-linear effect with generalized additive mixed models. Our results showed that low-flying species are more affected than high-flying species. Indeed, we found a significant negative effect of major roads on bat activity for the ‘clutter-adapted’ species, Eptesicus serotinus, Myotis spp., Pipistrellus pipistrellus and Rhinolophus hipposideros. These results demonstrate that the road-effect zone of major roads extends up to five kilometres. Extrapolating those road-effects zones to the major roads in the European Union, we estimated that 35% of the European Union is potentially negatively impacted. Finally, it seems urgent to consider these road effects with the cumulative effects of other roads by improving habitat connectivity and foraging areas in land use policies. Habitat fragmentation particularly affects bats during their nightly movements between roosts and foraging areas. Bat overpasses are among the proposed improvements intended to reduce the fragmentation impact of roads, but they have rarely been tested. In this study, we performed a Before-After Control-Impact analysis (BACI) to assess the efficiency of one bat overpass on the number of bat crossings, by using an acoustic flight path reconstruction (AFPR) approach. We obtained 888 bat crossings of five taxa. Our results showed that the number of bat crossings increased significantly after the installation of the bat overpass. With a view to making more informed management recommendations,\nwe address the simple question: are bat activity and diversity (as measured with ultrasonic detectors)\ncorrelated with distance from a major road?\n2. Broadband acoustic surveys were conducted on 20 walked transects perpendicular to the M6, a\nmajor road inCumbria (UK), with bat activity recorded at eight spot checks per transect at different\ndistances from the road. Climatic and habitat variables were also recorded, and the relationships\nbetween bat activity and these variables were investigated using generalised estimated equations\n(GEE) and ordinal logistic regression.\n3. Total bat activity, the number of species and the activity of Pipistrellus pipistrellus (the most\nabundant species) were all positively correlated with distance from the road. Total activity increased\nmore than threefold between 0 and 1600 m from the road. These effects were found to be consistent\nover 2 years.\n4. Synthesis and applications. This study is one of the first to show that roads have a major negative\nimpact on bat foraging activity and diversity and is broadly applicable to insectivorous bat communities\nworldwide. Mitigation requires that roads are made more permeable to bats through the use\nof effective crossings, such as underpasses and overpasses, and that habitat is improved within 1 km\nof major roads. Réponse de Romain: l'hypothèse était que l'application de Btk (en tant que biocide) est occasionnelle et surtout dans des milieux déjà très perturbés (parcs urbains) donc ce serait difficile d'identifier un effet de Bti sur la quantité de proies puis des populations de chauve-souris.

Par contre si on prend en compte son application en tant que phyto (par l'ONF en forêt), ça change la donne. Mais a priori ce n'est pas dans le périmètre de la convention.
