However, farmers and smallholders without the economic resources and required knowledge to use and to access the latest technology seem to find an impediment to precision agricultural practices. This article discusses the possibility of adopting precision agriculture (PA) principles for site-specific management but in a low technology context for such farmers. The proposed methodology to support PA combines low technology dependency and a participatory approach by involving smallholders, farmers and experts. Such challenges can only be addressed by a multi-disciplinary approach, in which socio-economic, geospatial, and environmental information becomes inter-connected. However, existing solutions cannot be seamlessly integrated and current interaction paradigms prevent mainstream usage of the existing technology. In particular, it is still difficult to access and join harmonized data and processing algorithms that are provided by different environmental information infrastructures. In this paper we take a novel approach for integrated environmental modelling based on the notion of inter-linked resources on the Web. We present design practices for creating resource-oriented interfaces, driven by an interaction protocol built on the combination of valid linkages to enhance resource integration, accompanied by associated recommendations for implementation. The suggested resource-oriented approach provides a solution to the problems identified above, but still requires intense prototyping and experimentation. Cada profesional tiene diferentes grados de dependencia tecnológica, por lo que la información geoespacial necesaria para cada perfil es distinta y valorada por su utilidad. El estudio cuantitativo presentado en este artículo, basado en las técnicas de encuestas. La finalidad del estudio es la evaluación del estado actual en el uso y conocimiento de las tecnologías geoespaciales durante la prevención y extinción de incendios forestales. En este artículo se describe la metodología seguida para la confección de la encuesta, la definición de los criterios de evaluación y el análisis de los resultados obtenidos. Los resultados reflejan una tendencia positiva en cuanto que las infraestructuras de datos espaciales (IDE) y otras tecnologías geoespaciales son conocidas e incluso utilizadas por los encuestados, Abstract \tResearch Summary: This manual documents the procedures for estimating the rate of forward spread, intensity, flame length, and size of fires burning in forests and rangelands. It contains instructions for obtaining fuel and weather data, calculating fire behavior, and interpreting the results for application to actual fire problems. Potential uses include fire prediction, fire planning, dispatching, prescribed fires, and monitoring managed fires. Included are sections that deal with fuel model selection, fuel mOisture, wind, slope, calculations with nomograms, TI-59 calculations, point source, line fire, interpretations of outputs, and growth predictions.
