            "abstractNote": "Academic libraries and colleagues within the larger educational sector commonly prioritize educational equity and affordable course content. While higher education frequently incentivizes open pedagogy and open-educational resources (OER), primary sources should also be cultivated as freely available resources that foster engagement, critical thinking, and historical inquiry. Blending both the theoretical and the practical, this article covers definitions, research, and case studies from teaching archivists representing five institutions at different stages of implementing primary source instruction programs. This article provides archivists and librarians with the language and inspiration to advance conversations with their teaching faculty collaborators in furtherance of educational equity.",

            "abstractNote": "This study examined how the infusion of an inquiry-based project, Their Story, influenced the disciplinary literacy skills of four elementary pre-service teachers (PSTs). Over the course of the four-week project, the PSTs demonstrated growth in their ability to engage with social studies content. The study identified varying levels of competency among the PSTs in the following areas: (a) reflective and epistemological thinking, (b) application of research strategies and data sources, (c) use of disciplinary language conventions and discourse and (d) integration of National Council for the Social Studies thematic strands. The PSTs’ personal, cultural, and social backgrounds played a key role in shaping their interpretation of history and approach to historical research. Implications for practice include the need for explicit, scaffolded instruction to address the teachers’ instructional needs, as well as paired course and field experiences to further develop their disciplinary literacy skills.",

            "abstractNote": "This article discusses the development and implementation of a case-based learning scenario activity intended to enhance primary source literacy among undergraduate business students. The activity was delivered in the context of a large Midwestern university’s undergraduate business course. This case is based on the ACRL RBMS-SAA Guidelines for Primary Source Literacy and gives students an opportunity to use digitized primary archival sources as part of the research process in connection with a modern business-related scenario in which they can apply primary source literacy skills. This guided activity also explores affective experiences as they occurred in student responses to this activity through Varnalis-Weigle’s Four Affects of Experience. This study examines which core guidelines from the ACRL RBMS-SAA Guidelines for Primary Source Literacy were met as well as which affective experiences were realized among students.",

            "abstractNote": "Providing elementary-aged students with opportunities to engage in authentic historical analysis is crucial to building their historical thinking skills. Teaching with primary and secondary sources allows students opportunities to engage in authentic, disciplined inquiry-based learning experiences where the acquisition of a historical concept is in their hands. Developing social studies instruction utilizing the SOURCES Framework for Teaching with Primary and Secondary Sources is an effective way to scaffold authentic historical inquiry at the upper elementary level. In this study, the researchers sought to explore student levels of acquisition of four historical Habits of Mind when taught using student-centered inquiry-based approaches to instruction. The researchers concluded that each student exhibited the use of Habits of Mind when taught using a student-centered approach to historical inquiry; however, the levels at which the students acquired the Habits varied.",

            "abstractNote": "STEM Teaching with Embedded Primary Sources (STEPS) is a professional development program that introduces Mississippi K-12 STEM teachers to primary sources as an instructional aid and provides targeted training on embedding primary sources into STEM lessons. Training includes a two-day workshop during which participants engage in finding, selecting, and aligning primary sources to content standards. Teachers also develop STEM-focused lessons that utilize primary sources. Quantitative results show a statistically significant difference in pre- and postsurvey results, with participants claiming a higher degree of confidence in locating and selecting primary sources, and more positive attitudes toward embedding primary sources in instruction.",

            "abstractNote": "Literature on primary source instruction between 2013 and 2023 features case studies from institutions able to support embedded archivists and scaffolded educational experiences. This article examines five common themes in the scholarship published within that time, including constructivism, the roles of digital and physical resources, and the importance of collaboration between archives and instructors. It subsequently comments on the aspects of archives instruction notably absent from the same sample of literature, including faculty and student preparedness, limits imposed by resource shortages, and the one-shot session. The article calls for more scholarly attention to the range of instruction programs and recognizes archives' place in the wider library education network.",

These insights led to reflections on disconnects across the field, considerations for publishing about TPS, and the potential of pedagogical standards and guidelines.             "abstractNote": "Approaches to learning in library, archive, and museum (LAM) spaces vary and institutional barriers make it challenging to design connected learning experiences involving more than one type of LAM. To support the design of high-quality educational experiences, this discourse analysis investigates learning in LAMs as portrayed by their mission and vision statements. The analysis reveals that libraries, archives, and museums use similar linguistic strategies to construct rhetorical communities along geographic, disciplinary, and interest-driven lines. Libraries and archives differed from museums in that they positioned themselves as conduits to learning resources rather than as direct providers of learning experiences. Shared elements of organizational discourses around learning present promising starting points for conversation and collaboration.",
