Beteiligung von Nutzern an der Korrektur und Zusammenstellung historischer Buch- und Bildbestände. Crowdsourcing ist in dem Fall ein probates Mittel,  um eine Volltexterschließung an historischen Beständen vorzunehmen. Beschrieben wird dies an drei Crowdsourcing-Projekten. Crowdsourcing als Win-Win-Situation, da der Nutzer an dem zur Verfügung gestellten Kulturgut beteiligt wird und sich mit der Bibliothek verbunden fühlt. Die Bibliothek erhält durch die Beteiligung eine schnellere Nutzbarkeit.

Wie viele Teilnehmer hat das Projekt?

57.000 Teilnehmer / Downloads. Im Moment haben 16.000 Handys die App. versucht haben es ein Viertel der Nutzer. Welche form der Kommunikation erfogt mit den Anwender? Der Erstkontakt erfolgt über E-Mail. Dann per Newsletter. Wie werden Ergebnisse verarbeitet? Alle Daten werden gespeichert, auch die Proben am Tag. Dies hat zur Folge, dass Auswertungen schwierig sind. Für jedes Handy gibt es einen Code, damit der Anwender anonym bleibt.

Befragung  im Interview über Erfolgs- und Abbruchquoten. Herr Zedlitz gab vermutet, dass die Mitarbeit in den Projekten nach dem Pareto-Prinzip erfolgt. Das Pareto-Prinzip besagt: 20 % Einsatz um 80 % des Ergebnisses zu erreichen. Das könnte auch auf die Crowdsourcing Projekte zutreffen. Bei dem \"Verlustlisten 1.Weltkrieg Projekt\" haben 75% Prozent der Akteure 748 Tage gleichbleibend am Projekt gearbeitet, was auf einen sehr hohen Motivationsgrad schließen lässt.

Motive können bei gleicher Tätigkeit aber verschiedenen Menschen unterschiedlich ausgeprägt sein. Anhand dieser Faktoren kann eine Zielgruppe identifiziert werden. Durch diese Identifikation lässt sich das Projekt besser planen und das Engagement steigern. Die Motive des Engagement in Bezug auf Citizen Science-Projekte müssen untersucht werden. Dort gibt es noch Forschungsbedarf.
