"abstractNote": "This study presents a corpus analysis of academic integrity policies from Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) worldwide, exploring how they address the issues posed by technological threats, such as Automated Paraphrasing Tools and generative-artificial intelligence tools, such as ChatGPT. The analysis of 142 policies conducted in November and December 2022, and May 2023 reveals a gap regarding the mention of AI and associated technologies in the available academic integrity policies. Despite the growing prevalence of these tools in the 6-month period since the release of ChatGPT, no HEIs had produced revised academic integrity policies. Content analysis of 53 guidance documents produced by HEIs suggests an overall positive focus of Gen AI tools, yet advises caution. This study suggests a modification to Bretag et al.’s (Int J Educ Integr 7, 2011) exemplary academic integrity model, introducing “Technological Explicitness” — emphasizing the need to include explicit guidelines about new technologies in academic integrity policies. These results underscore the urgent need for HEIs to revise their academic integrity policies, considering the evolving landscape of AI and its implications for academic integrity. This paper argues for a multifaceted approach to deal with the issues of integrating technology, education, policy reform, and assessment restructuring to navigate these challenges while upholding academic integrity.",

"abstractNote": "The bachelor thesis deals with the Holocaust in the context of the racial persecution of the original citizens of Liberec who were interned in the Terezín family camp Auschwitz-Birkenau. Ninety such persons (35 men, 45 women, 10 children and adolescents) were identified through the analysis of various databases. The persons concerned had first been interned in the Terezín ghetto and then deported to the Terezín family camp in Auschwitz-Birkenau. Here 87 of them were murdered, only three of them survived the end of the war. An integral part of the brutality of Nazi Germany's racial policy was the dehumanisation of human beings, who were gradually stripped of their human rights and, eventually, their identities, through discriminatory measures, and turned into numbers. Thanks to the subsequent post-war process of displacement of German-speaking inhabitants, most of those who knew and could remember them disappeared from Liberec at the same time. The process of gradual forgetting was completed after the communists took over the de facto monopoly of power in 1948. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to return the story of this group of the population to the history of the city they were forced to leave and in the vast majority of cases could never return to .",

"abstractNote": "Aims and objectives/purpose/research questions:The empirical goal of the paper is to document the linguistic distribution and patterning as well as the sociolinguistic conditioning of intensifiers in English spoken by educated young adults from Germany. Here, I also seek to understand how the empirical data presented here informs our understanding of the mechanisms underlying language change in those forms of English that emerge through the combined impact of naturalistic L2 acquisition and instructed foreign language learning (henceforth, EFL or Learner English).Design/methodology/approach:The study reports intensification data from 53 advanced learners of English from Germany and compares it with that reported for L1 English vernaculars. The data were elicited with the help of sociolinguistic interviews tapping into learners’ natural linguistic behaviour. The processes of language change are explored against the backdrop of grammaticalisation theory, as espoused by variationist sociolinguists.Data and analysis:The study employs two methods of analysis: distributional percentages and fixed-effects logistic regression analyses. These allow pinpoint rates and patterns of intensification as well as its language-internal and language-external conditioning.Findings/conclusions:Systematic comparisons of language-internal conditioning underlying the occurrence of linguistic variants pinpoint ‘functional specialisation’ (also ‘entrenchment’) as a driving mechanism of and a potent constraint on language change.Originality:While demonstrating how functional specialisation is operative in the system of German Learner English intensification, the present study highlights the relevance of EFL data to empirical testing and advancement of (socio-)linguistic theory. The study also highlights the relevance of learners’ linguistic identity and the sociopsychological construct of ‘relatedness’ in the adoption of the globally available features of the English language.Significance/implications:The study pleads for more research at the intersection of historical/general linguistics and SLA as such an approach adds to knowledge about language acquisition, language variation and, ultimately, language change.",

"abstractNote": "This PDF file presents a prototype of a multilingual thesaurus dedicated to the performing arts, developed using the Opentheso platform (IR* HumaNum), an open-source and collaborative tool for managing controlled vocabularies. This work was carried out within the framework of two interdisciplinary and international research projects: THEATRALIA, a working group supported by DARIAH-EU, the European infrastructure for digital humanities, and PERFORMA, a research program funded by the Institut des Amériques, focused on the study of the Americas. The thesaurus aims to provide a coherent and standardized structure of concepts related to the performing arts (theatre, dance, performance, circus arts, etc.) in several languages, including French, English, Spanish, Portuguese, indonesian and croatian. It is designed to facilitate the description, indexing, and interoperability of documentary and archival resources, to support multilingual database research, and to contribute to the valorization of intangible cultural heritage in scientific, cultural, and digital contexts. This prototype represents an exploratory step toward the development of a shared and evolving tool, open to contributions from research communities and professionals in the field.",

"abstractNote": "The Dublin Core for Performing Arts (DCPA) is a digital description language model specifically designed for performing arts archives. It aims to establish a common framework for describing performing arts collections while adhering to the FAIR principles—ensuring that data is Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable. The Dublin Core for Performing Arts (DCPA) was developed by the THEATRALIA Working Group (DARIAH-ERIC) during its second phase, titled Performing Arts: Navigating through Digital Knowledge Models (2024–2025).\nTo design this model, the THEATRALIA Working Group has built upon the Dublin Core Set, which provides 15 standardized metadata fields for a simple yet effective archival framework. Recognizing the complexity of performing arts archives, the group has also considered the more detailed “Qualified Dublin Core” (DCTERMS) to allow greater flexibility and customization. Performing arts collections include diverse materials—from paper documents to digital assets—requiring a tailored approach. This framework integrates core Dublin Core elements while allowing users to select only the fields relevant to their specific archival needs, ensuring both consistency and flexibility.",

"abstractNote": "Throughout history the North Atlantic archipelagos have projected themselves outwards thanks to travel and the innate capacity of their inhabitants to relate to other peoples. This research aims to reveal their nodal character on the stage of global mobility, using a detailed statistical analysis of their migration trends since the 1960s. To this end, it is necessary to recognise the rhythms of the migration transition and its parallelism with the socio-economic development of the island spaces themselves. In addition, common features can be identified in their recent migration patterns in which a great diversification of origins and destinations predominates, as well as a multiplicity of motivations. With this aim, migration in these archipelagos is interpreted from a temporal and spatial perspective, redefining the historical concept of “Atlanticity,” and allowing to identify the strategic position they play in the geography of human mobility in times of global capitalism.",

"abstractNote": "Understanding literary history is a fundamental component of the literary studies curriculum (Summit). Traditionally, students have been introduced to the discipline from a historical perspective, often following a linear temporal progression that outlines literary periods, or simply using centuries and national or linguistic boundaries as markers. In many academic settings, such as in Germany, students of literary studies often also pursue teacher training. Consequently, they learn about literary history as future mediators of a constructed (national) literary tradition. However, as many critics have pointed out in recent decades, doing literary history poses certain challenges: Which texts are read and which are forgotten? Who becomes part of the canon, and how does this intersect with power relations? What kind of literary history are we teaching if we only address a very small part of the literary archive?\n\nOutside of the increasingly popular but not yet widespread digital humanities programs, literary history is generally taught through the lens of hermeneutics, or, less frequently, social history. Complementing these, digital humanities and computational methods can offer promising solutions to questions about largescale phenomena over long periods of time. By working quantitatively with large data sets—some call them capta to emphasize their constructed nature (Drucker)—computational literary studies strive to ”explain or provide general laws of literature, and even of history and culture” (Bode, 14). \n\nWhile scalability in data analysis offers broader perspectives, it does not eliminate the need for narrativization. Any literary history inherently synthesizes information and reduces complexity. Expanding the data set accentuates potential issues related to data selection (Herrmann and Lauer). So the process of building a corpus doesn’t eliminate the challenges of hermeneutic or social-historical literary history. Rather, the practices of quantitative research tend to expose problems around canonicity, periodization, and intersectionality, by making the selection process transparent. The same is true of diagrammatic visualizations, which play a crucial role in quantitative analysis in explaining relationships and developments within literary history by providing visual frameworks for concepts of time and change, causality and continuity (BÅNorner et al.). Therefore, a key advantage of computational literary studies is its ability to  identify and address selection processes and blind spots (Herrmann et al.), while critically engaging with issues like availability, selection, bias, and canonicity in the narrativization of literary history (Underwood).\n\nWe discuss these questions using an interactive Open Educational Resource (OER) in data literary studies as a case study. This OER introduces concepts such as modeling, operationalization, corpus building, and various measures of quantitative analysis to students and teachers of literature who are not yet familiar with digital humanities methods. Through this example, we highlight how fostering data literacy in students equips them with the skills to critically engage with narrative constructions of literary history.",

"abstractNote": "Society is transforming due to changes in demographics, the environment, and technology, and thus faces multiple challenges. In this context, data coordination and access, collectively referred to as the digital transformation, are key to addressing anticipated societal tensions. \n \n \nThis interview-based qualitative study focuses on how researchers responsible for large-scale population-based research infrastructure view the opportunities and dilemmas in play in the intersection between data and personal privacy. The objective is to look beyond the glossy formulations of official strategy documents to see how the digital transformation (more specifically, data-driven research) is perceived from the active researcher’s point of view, and what the intellectual negotiation process is like. What is of interest here is how the accessibility of register data is legitimized, and what developments and significant changes are simultaneously taking place. The research questions are: \n \n \n1) How does the research community acknowledge the tensions and dilemmas between the possible risks and harms of large-scale, data-driven, population-based research, and its potential benefits? \n \n \n2) How are the accessibility and coordination of research data justified and discussed by the research community, given the risks and potential, in relation to political and societal goals and policies? \n \nWith the contemporary Swedish research context as a point of departure, these research questions are addressed based on policy documents about digitalization, and on interviews with researchers.",
