"abstractNote": "This article analyzes a topic mentioned in the historical narratives but has not been studied from the local perspective: how a colonial province lacks of a representative in the Spanish Courts from 1810 to 1814. The lack of a representative in several American provinces made them name a substitute. The case analyzed here, San Luis Potosi, neither had the chance to elect a representative or a substitute. The only elected deputy that traveled to Spain made it until August 1814, when the King was already reinstated and the Spanish Courts dissolved. This article analyzes the circumstances that impeded the province of San Luis Potosi to have a representative in the Spanish Courts and the strategies that the local political actors used to make them to be heard. (English) [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]\nEste artículo aborda un tema poco analizado desde la perspectiva local, el hecho de que una provincia novohispana careciera de representante en las Cortes entre 1810 y 1814. Si bien la falta de un representante en las Cortes fue un problema al que se enfrentaron varias provincias americanas, lo cual las obligó a nombrar suplentes, la particularidad del caso que analizamos es que San Luis Potosí tampoco contó con esta posibilidad: el único diputado electo por esta provincia que logró embarcarse a la península llegó en agosto de 1814, cuando el rey había regresado y las Cortes estaban disueltas. En el texto se analizan las circunstancias que impidieron a San Luis Potosí tener un representante en las Cortes, así como las estrategias a las que recurrieron los actores políticos locales para hacerse escuchar en los asuntos que consideraban de mayor importancia para la provincia.
