While the website presents the digital edition, the data represent it. The underlying data model is derived from several standards (TEI, DTABf, ediarum.BASE.data-model) with the help of ODD chaining. But the data publication should not be considered an overarching “metapublication” from which all other published formats (print, HTML, PDF, etc.) can be derived. Rather, a decision must be made during the data publication process as to which content is to be published in which format and how. The data finally selected are retrieved via the edition’s own API and checked again on GitHub in order to prepare them for the final publication on Zenodo. It is important to keep in mind, however, that this is only a snapshot of the data, which can be improved and supplemented in the next versions.
