The Mental Health Alternative Court (MHAC) deal with offenders after they are convicted to assess their mental health needs so that they may be treated accordingly. It seems that instead of incarceration, offenders are offered participation in a program that involves check ins, court appearances, and supervision in addition to mental health treatment in order to address the mental health issues that may have caused them to engage in criminal activity.",
