"abstractNote": "Steven Solomon writes about how water scarcity being the next big issue in politics. He discusses that ever human has the right to be given an allotted 13 gallons of water a day. He proposes once those 13 gallons are used by each individual, no matter of what origin, then they must pay for the more resource used. But because this resource has not been made available to everyone on the planet due to geographic and political purposes, there have been, as described by Solomon, a divide between the \"haves\" and \"have-nots\". Water scarcity will only continue to get worse as we continue to over-exploit and over-allocate water as well as continuing the steady increase in population. \"Just as oil conflicts were central to twentieth-century history, the struggle over freshwater is set to shape a new turning point in the world order and the destiny of civilization.\" Solomon proposes in this book that it will ultimately remain on societies with the proper resources infra-structurally, politically, and economically. Those with \"the most innovative responses\" to this current issue will move ahead in this future conflict leaving everyone else behind to struggle to the point of extreme interdependence in terms of energy, food, and climate change.",

An expansion in infrastructure is being pushed towards an alignment with sustainable practices. This movement is being advocated by the political north in order to spread environmental awareness and to allow for economic efficiency through development. Water infrastructure is often viewed, as out of sight and out of mind, so there is little focus on making our water supply efficient. Water is scattered throughout the world in various forms, and we need to tap this resource with our innovative technologies.",

Many of the piping is made to last over one hundred years, and only 25% of it is predicted to be salvaged. With old pipes making a large portion of our water infrastructure here in the US there is little efficiency because these pipes have a small carrying capacity or are corroded. With very little, regular maintenance made on the systems there are concerns that there will by high budgets alongside of high expenses when repairing or replacing the old infrastructure as well as high risks for damaging services and utilities indefinitely.",

There is a general awareness of the dark side of water and the needs to focus more attention on how we treat it. There are conclusions that we need to improve human life, improve quality, foster equity, and make practices more sustainable. One book calls for greater diplomacy through conventions that create laws and treaties particularly concerning transboundary water bodies. Another speaks of total cooperation that fosters discussion and negotiation to allow for development in water systems. The third book calls for greater cohesion in resource management and use of new technologies while focusing on the use of groundwater for irrigation.",

"abstractNote": "Environmental degradation has had a tendency to lead to conflict and environmental cooperation has not yet experienced peacemaking. Through exploring regions across the world and the problems there is evidence of progress and potential that can be made. Peace can be seen in these regions if there is cooperation with the environmental issues affecting the communities. These issues are sensitive to the institutions handling them. There is a need for a trust between and within governments and a trans-society.",

The redrawn line would ensure Georgia to have full use of the lake’s water ensuring a water supply to its people. The original documented line states that the Lake is in Georgia, but in practice the Lake and local residents have Tennessee addresses. There is a growing dispute on who in fact should have rights to the water.",
