This theme of religious importance is not suprising given the location seen in this photo. As you can see this photp shows us a high mountain landscape which most certainly played a major role in the design of the city from both an architectural and religious aspect. Unfortunately it is believed that over half of the cities population was wiped out by smallpox during the early 1500's.
