interference. We present Sparse Reflections Analysis (SRA), an algorithm for removing this interference which has two main advantages. First, it allows for very general forms of multipath, including interference with three or more paths, diffuse multipath resulting from Lambertian surfaces, and combinations thereof. SRA removes this general multipath with robust techniques based on L1 optimization. Second, due to a novel dimension reduction, we are able to produce a very fast version of SRA, which is able to run at frame rate. Time-of-Flight (ToF) depth sensors can provide 3D information regardless of texture but with only limited resolution and accuracy. To find an optimal reconstruction, we propose an integrated multi-view sensor fusion approach that combines information from multiple color cameras and multiple ToF depth sensors. First, multi-view ToF sensor measurements are combined to obtain a coarse but complete model. Then, the initial model is refined by means of a probabilistic multi-view fusion framework, optimizing over an energy function that aggregates ToF depth sensor information with multi-view stereo and silhouette constraints. Acceleration data was collected from 20 subjects without researcher supervision or observation. Subjects were asked to perform a sequence of everyday tasks but not told specifically where or how to do them. Mean, energy, frequency-domain entropy, and correlation of acceleration data was calculated and several classifiers using these features were tested. Decision tree classifiers showed the best performance recognizing everyday activities with an overall accuracy rate of 84%. The results show that although some activities are recognized well with subject-independent training data, others appear to require subject-specific training data. The results suggest that multiple accelerometers aid in recognition because conjunctions in acceleration feature values can effectively discriminate many activities. With just two biaxial accelerometers – thigh and wrist – the recognition performance dropped only slightly. In this paper we present DIRECT, a novel touch-tracking algorithm that merges depth and infrared imagery captured by a commodity sensor. This yields significantly better touch tracking than from depth data alone, as well as any prior system. Further extending prior work, DIRECT supports arbitrary user orientation and requires no prior calibration or background capture. We describe the implementation of our system and quantify its accuracy through a comparison study of previously published, depth-based touch-tracking algorithms.
