Reading the assigned ARIST Museum Informatics chapter I was struck by his point that initially museums and libraries were both striving to begin automating their collections. Musuems were unable to agreed on a data standard and this hurt automation initiatives. Museums fell behind libraries in automation. With the rise of computers in the workplace museums begain developing databas and other systems at their own institutions. Later collaboration became yet more difficult because the systems the institutions developed were incompatible.

\n

I think it would be intersting to map our timeline on a board LIS timeline. In order to give perspective on museum technology advancements.
