            "abstractNote": "Este estudio se incluye dentro de la temática de investigación de las Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación, el diseño e implementación de metodologías de aprendizaje colaborativo y la promoción de habilidades sociales en estudiantes de nivel superior. El estudio fue de tipo exploratorio y se inserta dentro de los propósitos de la investigación preexperimental. Se administró un tratamiento al grupo y se midieron varias variables para observar el aprendizaje logrado a partir de la aplicación de una metodología de trabajo colaborativo basado en el Aprendizaje por Proyectos, la opinión de los estudiantes sobre la importancia del trabajo colaborativo y las habilidades sociales que evidenciaron a través del entorno virtual utilizado. Los resultados mostraron que una metodología de trabajo colaborativo basada en el aprendizaje por proyectos y mediada a través de un entorno virtual, promueve el desarrollo de habilidades sociales de conversación, y de aceptación y oposición asertiva en los estudiantes.",

            "abstractNote": "The purpose of this research study was to evaluate the central photos of 150 students in 50 states participating in Facebook for evidence of alcohol consumption, illegal activities and portrayal of sexually inappropriate behaviors (including nudity or partial nudity). Because the media has frequently reported evidence of these behaviors in Facebook, the researchers wished to conduct a formal, scientific investigation to determine the actual rate of occurrence of these behaviors as portrayed in Facebook by college students. Components of the investigation included both a pilot and key research study. A checklist/inventory rating form developed from the pilot study was utilized to facilitate the analysis process that included pre-selected settings, actions, events and people as well as spaces for writing in additional descriptors as the need arose. Alcohol was included in approximately 9% of the central photos, some photos were sexually suggestive (2.7%), and one photo contained partial nudity (0.7%). These statistics clearly indicate that the incidence of such negative depictions are far less frequent that the media seems to indicate. (Contains 8 tables.)",

            "abstractNote": "El propósito de este estudio es determinar los propósitos de los individuos el uso de las redes sociales con un enfoque en las posibles diferencias entre hombres y mujeres. Facebook, ¿cuál es la red social más popular y está más ampliamente utilizado, es investigado en este estudio. El grupo de estudio consistió de 870 usuarios de Facebook que respondieron a una encuesta en línea diseñado por los investigadores. Los análisis de los resultados mostró que los propósitos de uso se pueden clasificar en cuatro categorías, a saber, el mantenimiento de las relaciones existentes, hacer nuevas relaciones, con fines académicos y el siguiente programa específico. Se encontraron diferencias significativas entre sexos en todos los de los fines mencionados. Mientras que la diferencia de hacer nuevos contactos a favor de los hombres, las diferencias en los propósitos del usuario otros tres estaban a favor de las hembras. (Contiene 4 tablas.)",

            "abstractNote": "Introducción: En una economía orientada a la innovación y la competitividad de las actividades de investigación y desarrollo, las interrelaciones entre la universidad, la empresa privada y el gobierno son de considerable interés. De redes constituye una estrategia prioritaria para alcanzar este objetivo estratégico y una herramienta en las economías basadas en el conocimiento. Método: A partir de un inventario completo de los co-autor de artículos científicos, las redes de colaboración se definen y analizan con el método de análisis de redes sociales, utilizando el software Pajek y un gráfico con el algoritmo de Kamada-Kawai para la visualización. Análisis: La producción científica que promueve la colaboración interregional en la Comunidad de Madrid se analiza a través de tres categorías temáticas. Los datos utilizados fueron tomados de la Web of Science para el 1995-2003 año. Los principales indicadores de las redes sociales obtenidos fueron: grado de densidad media, el grado normalizado y la centralización de grado, la centralización de intermediación, la centralización de la cercanía y el coeficiente de clustering. Resultados: Redes llevado a un aumento moderado en el número de enlaces y de los actores participantes, con más empresas españolas y las filiales multinacionales en el segundo período. El mayor número de enlaces se registró a las universidades públicas ubicadas en la Comunidad de Madrid. Conclusiones: Los datos resultantes del análisis de redes sociales a cabo siempre en conocimiento de las características estructurales de las redes generadas y su evolución. La metodología de visualización utilizado demostró ser altamente informativa para identificar no sólo los actores principales, pero clusters y componentes así como. El análisis que ofrece una perspectiva útil para comprender la dinámica de las redes de colaboración. (Contiene 4 figuras y tablas 4).",

            "abstractNote": "Desde su creación en 2004, Facebook se ha convertido en uno de los sitios web más visitados en los campus universitarios. Debido a este aumento de la popularidad, el tema de las redes sociales ha crecido como una idea y la preocupación por los profesores y alumnos. En la Universidad Lee, se ha observado que un número creciente de miembros de la facultad han hecho creó perfiles de Facebook. De acuerdo con Pascarella y Terrenzini (1991), algunos de los miembros de la facultad más efectivas son aquellas que crean una relación informal con sus alumnos.             "abstractNote": "This research aims to determine opinions of university graduates about social networks according to their personal characteristics. The research was conducted on 203 university graduates who received teacher training at Sakarya University in 2010-2011 academic year. Two different data collection tools were administered to the participating university graduates and correlation analysis was conducted in light of data collected from the tools above. As is widely accepted by the technology users, Facebook, the most used social network in Turkey and across the world, was selected as the social network for the research. A positive and significant relationship was found among Facebook-related opinions stated by university graduates having an extravert personality as a result of data collected through the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire-Revised/Short-Form and Opinions of University Graduates about Social Networks data collection tools.             "abstractNote": "The purpose of this study is to design a structural model explaining how users could utilize Facebook for educational purposes. In order to shed light on the educational usage of Facebook, in constructing the model, the relationship between users' Facebook adoption processes and their educational use of Facebook were included indirectly while the relationship between users' purposes in using Facebook and the educational usage of Facebook was included directly. In this study, data is collected from Facebook users with an online survey developed by the researchers. The study group consists of 606 Facebook users whose answers were examined by using a structural equation model. The analyses of the 11 observed and 3 latent variables provided by the model showed that 50% of educational usage of Facebook could be explained by user purposes along with the adoption processes of Facebook. It was also found that Facebook adoption processes could explain 86% of all user purposes. Finally, while Facebook adoption processes explained 45% of its educational usage, it could explain 50% of variance in educational usage of Facebook when the user purposes were added into the analyses.             "abstractNote": "With Internet usage in the United States at an all-time high, information technology use in education has continued to increase. Research has shown that many students are utilizing these materials to search out information and assist with completing class assignments. Many college students have described the Internet as a functional tool that helps them to communicate with professors, conduct research, and access library materials. As more and more students and educators use the Internet as a source for information in the classroom, it is important to monitor students' attitudes and usage to ensure students know how to use technology effectively by recognizing credible sources and utilizing the correct technology for each situation. This study utilizes a descriptive survey to explore the current usage and attitudes toward the Internet by students enrolled in college of agriculture courses at the University of Florida. Findings indicate that these students are substantial users of the Internet and programs like Facebook, MySpace, and search engines. Students indicate believing that the Internet is easy to understand, important, beneficial, believable, and accurate. Recommendations are offered as to what these findings mean for instructors in the classroom. (Contains 7 tables.)",

            "abstractNote": "The Knowledge Society Network (KSN) \"takes advantage of new knowledge media to maximize and democratize society's knowledge-creating capacity\" (www.ikit.org/KSN). This article synthesizes the principles and designs of this network which were initiated over 15 years ago, and presents an exploratory study of interactions in the KSN over four years, elaborating different network structures and the potential of each for knowledge advancement. Four major sub-network structures for participant and idea interaction are described, as reflected in social network analysis of discourse in the KSN. Strengths and weaknesses of work within each sub-network were identified with suggestions for creating a more dynamic, sustained network for knowledge advancement.             "abstractNote": "Modern technology and the Internet have opened the door to a plethora of new opportunities to learn. It is now easier to research, communicate and study, thanks to advances in technology. There are, however, problems and dangers associated with new technology. Teachers need to remain up to date on these advances. The widespread popularity of social networking Web sites like Facebook and MySpace have created a new generation of problems and potential liabilities for educators. The best way to prevent a problem arising from a social networking site is to simply not have one. For those who do have one, they should take certain steps to ensure that their information remains private. Students now have access to an array of devices to access previously saved digital notes, secretly   communicate with classmates and search the Internet for answers during a test. If they are fast enough to go unnoticed, which newer technology supports, they can do this all from their desk. Teachers need to know how some of this occurs and how to prevent it from happening in their classroom, such as requiring all students to turn of all electronic devices during class, including cell phones and iPods, and to put them away in a book bag, purse, etc. or simply go over this rule each time a test is taken.",

            "abstractNote": "As regular attendees at the Academy of Human Resource Development (AHRD) Conference, the authors enjoyed interacting with the highly relevant study by Diane Chapman and her colleagues (Chapman, Wiessner, Morton, Fire, Jones, & Majekodunmi, 2009). In the study, they use several theoretical tools to understand the learning experiences of doctoral students at a professional conference. In the authors' view, the concept of the \"learning organization\" serves as a foundation for the creation of new knowledge at conferences. \"Communities of practice\" and the idea of \"legitimate peripheral participation\" represent the process that occurs at conferences. \"Knowledge creation\" is the outcome of these events. The authors concluded that an additional tool, social network analysis, could help to expand these ideas further. In this reaction article, the authors explain how the tools of social network analysis might be used to enhance their understanding of doctoral student participation in scholarly conferences. As formation of developmental relationships is central to the purpose of scholarly conferences such as AHRD, the authors argue that it is worth exploring the ties that doctoral students might develop in these conferences through the lens of Social Network Theory.",
