This text by Suzanne Scott looks at how Transmedia Storytelling Systems achieve such popularity because they act as \"cultural attractors and cultural activators.\" Scott's focus is more specifically on commercial Transmedia Storytellers, whose goal is meant to be \"decentralizing authorship and promoting collaboration between creators in different mediums and creators and fans.\" Scott goes through to explain how what started out as a really good collaborative system that would allow fans to share their ideas of plot gaps while gaining information about the story canonically from many different sources, movies, books, interactive games, and websites to name a few, has transformed into a system that destroys fan input, and reader response.
\nMy purpose for this source is to use it to back up how these commercial Transmedia Storytelling Systems are providing so much canonical information that it is inevitably restricting and controlling fan and reader interpretation. Which makes things much harder for me as a teacher, who may want to have students creatively tinker and practice critical as well as creative writing based off of a story and the plot gaps that exist in that story where readers can create possible worlds. People who go off cannon when creating a possible world with their reader interpreted fiction within a secondary world are looked down upon, and their work is often ridiculed as being \"less\" because they change what is cannon in their interpretation. I want to use this source to help show why it is increasingly harder for teachers to incorporate more modern texts who are a part of this Transmedia system in someway into the classroom for this reason.

I will use this article to help explain what possible world theory is. It discusses how worlds are created under a single author, and how multimedia productions as well as fan works better known as fanfiction fall under possible worlds theory. It also goes on to explain how original secondary worlds have now changed because corporations are taking over story telling.
\nThis article will also help establish that there is a strong change in series from what was written long before transmedial storytelling was a thing and the transmedial storytelling occurring in today's culture.

This book will be a central source for my paper. Wenner acknowledges that Austen doesn't go into detail about her landscapes, so it's important to pay attention when she does. She explores not only the influence of the landscape on the characters, but how the characters change the landscape to reflect themselves. A central idea of this book is that Austen's heroines \"find themselves\" in the landscapes in one way or another; some landscapes force exposure, while others are suitable for privacy (8-9). Wenner cites historical influences such as Gilpin's idea of the Picturesque and the Claude glass for Austen's representations and how the landscapes are viewed literally and by perception of the characters. The scenes that are analyzed from Pride and Prejudice are of course Elizabeth and Darcy at Pemberley, Elizabeth's walk to Netherfield, and Elizabeth's tour with her aunt and uncle. Wenner views Elizabeth's tour as a learning experience that she takes with her back to Longbourn. Other scenes include the encounter with Lady Catherine in the \"little wilderness,\" for which Elizabeth was prepared since she is comfortable in the landscape, and Darcy's proposal. Wenner suggests that each landscape prepares Elizabeth for the next: this is something that I want to analyze further and perhaps use as a means to move through my argument. Wenner also provides a section of nineteenth-century reactions, in which Austen's work is generally praised, and a final word that Austen presents landscapes differently than other female writers of her time--her heroines learn from and develop when they experience landscapes; they are not merely objects of national pride.

There are other journal entries that recount experiences of the same outcome; the house was not toured because the family was home.
The idea that the grounds reflect Mr. Darcy is presented here and has come up in other sources as well; it's an interesting observation, that fits in well with the focus of my paper.
This source has a lot of information about customs and expectations of touring country houses: who was allowed to tour and when, etc. It also related directly to Pemberley, and how Elizabeth's experience was fairly typical; they were permitted to tour the house, but the main interest was in the grounds and the gardens. The article also contrasts Elizabeth's visit at Pemberley to her time at Rosings.
