Para la primera mitad del siglo XX, tales v�as habr�an sido, grosso modo, la de la �psicolog�a cient�fica te�rica�, promovida en las aulas universitarias, con su paradigma en la C�tedra de Ps. Experimental de la Fac. de Ciencias de la Univ. central (1900), y la de la �psicolog�a aplicada�, promovida en centros no universitarios, particularmente en los Institutos Psicot�cnicos de Barcelona (1918) y Madrid (1922), con Mira y Germain, respectivamente, como emblemas de los mismos. Entendemos, por nuestra parte, que, circunscritos a las instituciones madrile�as, la simplificaci�n implicada en dicho esquema historiogr�fico no se corresponde exactamente con los hechos hist�ricos. El hallazgo de nuevas fuentes documentales relativas a la gesti�n acad�mica de dicha C�tedra por el Dr. Rodrigo Lav�n y la relectura de viejas fuentes -pasajes poco frecuentados de los escritos autobiogr�ficos del Dr. Germain- est�n exigiendo una revisi�n del mismo. De ambas pel�culas se analiza el uso de actividades de tipo imaginativo-fant�stico por parte de los peque�os protagonistas para hacer frente a temas de duelo y p�rdida. La finalidad del estudio es sacar a la luz el significado profundo que emerge de las dos experiencias dolorosas de vida de los protagonistas, que constituye el leit motif entorno al cual toma forma una identidad narrativa. El modelo postracionalista de Vittorio Guidano se demuestra una vez m�s aplicable y muy eficaz, incluso en el estudio del funcionamiento humano del individuo arm�nico, en ausencia de des�rdenes psicopatol�gicos. We argue that this text offers a useful analytic method for critical reflections on child migrants in South Africa for several reasons. First, it allows us to shift the focus away from children as a taken for granted object of analysis to a focus on the historical and contextual emergence of developmental psychology as a discipline and, more importantly for this paper, the nature of the child that has been produced through this disciplinary establishment. Second, it offers critical reflections on the exclusions created by this dominant discourse of the child which we elaborate. In particular, we make an argument for why a text that reflects primarily on the Anglo/US developmental psychology should be useful in the contemporary South African context. As an illustration, we give examples from ethnographic research that the authors conducted in two borderlands - the South Africa/Mozambican border and the South Africa/Lesotho border. We use this example to show first how the migrant child that is imagined in South African law is a fantasy of the western child imagined in international child rights regimes. We contrast this production of the child with the everyday experiences of child migrants at the border. In particular, the assumption that the family is the natural place for children and the state is only involved with children whose families neglect these responsibilities is rendered nonsensical for children living in borderlands where the state shapes their otherwise everyday practices and activities. Reading guidance involves study of books and readers and age, social and individual characteristics. Teenagers' interest in the arts grows in the Sixth-Eighth classes. Teenagers' reading motives are various: parental or peer influence; school syllabus; enjoyment; spiritual questions concerning personality development. Unfortunately, internal processes of appropriating fictional models have been little studied. Independent judgement and aesthetic taste develop from class 8. Sociological investigations on teenage reading cannot resolve psychological problems concerning fiction requirements. Research is lacking on the psychology of artistic perception. Focusing on novels by Margaret Atwood, William Faulkner, Toni Morrison, Jeanette Winterson, and Chuck Palahniuk, she shows how these writers try to enlarge our understanding of the relationship between individual traumas and the social forces of injustice, oppression, and objectification. Further, she argues, their work provides striking examples of how the devastating effects of trauma—whether sexual, socioeconomic, or racial—on individual personality can be depicted in narrative.Vickroy offers a unique blend of interpretive frameworks. She draws on theories of trauma and narrative to analyze the ways in which her selected texts engage readers both cognitively and ethically—immersing them in, and yet providing perspective on, the flawed thinking and behavior of the traumatized and revealing how the psychology of fear can be a driving force for individuals as well as for society.
