In this paper, a novel current profiling method is proposed to reduce the rms current while flatting the radial force sum to reduce the acoustic noise and vibration. The proposed method is adopted to the 18/12 SRM which has the competitive outer dimensions, torque, output power, efficiency and operating region of the permanent magnet motor used in the hybrid vehicles.",

            "abstractNote": "Radial electromagnetic force is one of the main reasons causing the vibration and noise of the switched reluctance motor. Based on this, the novel structure of 10/4 pole switched reluctance motor is proposed, which increases the air gap flux and electromagnetic torque by increasing the number of stator poles. In addition, the excitation current of the stator winding is reduced by early turn-off angle. Through the finite element modelling analysis, the results show the superiority of the new type of switched reluctance motor. In the end, the vibration characteristics of the conventional motor and the new motor are compared and analysed, and the effect of the structure of this new type of switched reluctance motor is verified.",

            "abstractNote": "Starting with Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction in 1831, electric (electromagnetic) machines have been developed ever since as “assembles” of electric and magnetic coupled circuits that convert mechanical to electrical energy (in generators) and vice versa (in motors), via magnetic energy storage. Generators and motors are reversible. The Maxwell four equations (laws) later in 19th Century have prompted the rapid development of all basic (DC. brush and travelling field AC machines by 1900. Then by 1930 AC (alternating current) power (energy) systems evolved by connecting in parallel electric synchronous generators (with voltage boost and buck electric transformers for efficient AC power transmission lines) of rather constant frequency and voltage, driven by turbines (prime movers) that harness fossil (coal, gas or nuclear fuels), thermal or hydro energy. The last 50 years have witnessed a dramatic extension of generators power/unit, renewable energy generators and of variable speed AC motor drives in applications with variable output such as ventilators, pumps compressors, conveyors, orr-mills, electric transport (mobility), industrial automation, robotics, home appliances and info — gadgets. This formidable development, required by the need of more but cleaner energy, was mainly driven by power electronics, better materials, better modeling, design methodologies and digital control. This humble inaugural overview attempts to combine a brief history of electrical generators and motors with recent progress and trends in their design and control, for representative applications.",

            "abstractNote": "In recent decades, factors such as the worldwide growing concern for pollution induced climate changes, increasingly stringent emission norms for vehicles and depleting petroleum resources coupled with volatility in their prices have motivated and accelerated development of sustainable and clean alternatives for transportation systems. Electrification of vehicular technology (EVT) is considered as a promising and sustainable alternative for future transportation systems. In evolution of EVT, instability of fuel price, fuel economy, range, performance and costs are the governing factors and prime concerns for researchers, auto manufacturers and customers. These factors are decided by the design of the electric propulsion system (EPS) for vehicular application and its suitable integration with various electrical and mechanical components. In this paper, a comparative overview of EVT along with a comprehensive analysis of EPS and a brief discussion on power flow control and management algorithms for EVT is presented. The paper also highlights the ongoing technological advancements and future challenges in the roadmap of EPS for the electrification of vehicular technology.",
