J.-C. Si le dieu de Delphes, par sa fonction oraculaire, est lié à la décision de la migration, son importance tient à son succès comme oracle et non à une spécialisation particulière dans ce domaine. Si Apollon patronne effectivement la suite du mouvement migratoire, il le fait sous d’autres épithètes (ainsi archégète) qui ne renvoient plus spécifiquement à Delphes. Après la fondation, la fréquentation du sanctuaire de Delphes (concours, offrandes, consultations) concrétise pour les Grecs des diasporas l’appartenance à un hellénisme commun. Delphes est alors, comme Olympie, un sanctuaire de tous les Grecs, diasporiques ou non.
