reading the task design using colors prompts me to think about the design issues related to multimodality, the meaning potentials deeply culturally entrenched concepts, such as color should be thought of in the foreground. So design has to involve a framework rather than from purely student needs. Students don't know about multidality, but a wise designer should know about it.
