well-established research methodology. It is following a post-positivist research philosophy grounded in critical thinking. The methodology is driven by practical problems, emphasis participatory research, and develops practically useful solutions in an iterative manner. Objective: Two objectives are to be achieved: (1) Understanding the state of the art with respect to action research usage in the software engineering literature, and (2) reflecting and providing recommendations of how to foster industry-academia collaboration through action research. Method:} Based on our experience with two action research studies in close collaboration with Ericsson lessons learned and guidelines are presented. Results: In both cases presented action research led to multiple refinements in the interventions implemented. Furthermore, the close collaboration and co-production with the industry was essential to identify and describe the required refinements to provide an in-depth understanding. In comparison with previous studies, we required multiple iterations while previous software engineering studies reported mostly one iteration, or were not explicit regarding the number of iterations studied. Conclusion: We conclude that action research is a powerful tool for industry-academia collaboration. The success of the method highly depends on the researchers and practitioners working in a team. There has been increasing interest in forming strategic partnerships in higher education due to a variety of motivations, such as pooling of resources and improving the professional development process for students (Worrall, 2007). It is important to examine how strategic partnerships form because the process of formation sets the objectives and expectations of the relationship, which in turn impact the likelihood of success and sustainability of the relationship. Further, despite the growing interest in forming strategic partnerships, the majority of these partnerships fail (Eddy, 2010). This analysis of strategic partnerships emerges from our participatory action research with university change agents activated through the NSF REvolutionizing engineering and computer science Departments (RED) Program. Through an NSF-funded collaboration between [University 1] and [University 2], we work with the change-making teams to investigate the change process and provide just-in-time training and support. Utilizing qualitative data from focus group discussions and observations of monthly cross-team teleconference calls, we examine the importance of motivations, social capital, and organizational capital in the process of forming strategic partnerships. We find that change-making teams have utilized a variety of strategies to establish goals and governance within strategic partnerships. These strategies include establishing alignment among institutional goals, project goals, and partner organization goals. Further, the strategic partnerships that have been most successful have occurred when teams have intentionally built mutually beneficial relationships and invited their partner into the visioning process for their change projects. "Archivists today are caught between an expanding volume of records and a growing public expectation that every page in every document is online and indexed. With so many records and so few resources to provide on-demand access to them, the problem seems intractable. More money alone is not the answer; larger appropriations or donations cannot solve this problem. Instead, archivists must fundamentally shift the way they think about their roles and develop alternative means and methods for doing archival work.\n\nThis paper introduces the concept of commons-based peer-production as a means of turning collections inside out. It presents a co-design participatory practice with eight Higher Education students for whom English was a first language. The investigation approaches the practice of weaving from the practitioner’s lens alongside participants’ area of expertise in designing with Emotional Experience.\n The literature review examines and discusses current debates within three key areas of the investigation – Emotional Experience, digital coding within textiles, and co-design. This led to the development of a computer-led co-design experience approach as well as an Emotional Experience three-domain framework. The approach, which provides a space for co-designing woven textiles, has shaped the practice investigation into three stages; whilst the framework has been used to categorise participants’ responses of sensory perception of woven textiles. A qualitative multi-method triangulation approach composed of qualitative research, design research and action research has been designed to conduct the investigation. The qualitative research approach has used two participatory research techniques, the Repertory Grid Technique and in-depth online video call interview, to capture participants’ sensory perception of woven textiles and their responses to computer-based interface and digital coding. Using design reflection, the design research approach has created an iterative participatory weaving practice that informed the theory of the research via note taking, testing, and prototyping. The action research approach has validated the use of tacit knowledge as well as translated it into explicit knowledge by employing a reflective practice, an iterative process of reflection during the design phase of woven textiles and computer-based interfaces.\n This investigation demonstrates the benefits of computer-led co-design experience for designing Jacquard woven textiles to elicit Emotional Experience. The contribution to knowledge comprises: (i) presenting a method to introduce digital coding as a tool to design woven textiles to elicit Emotional Experience during the pre-acquisition stage; (ii) categorising the use of code within the weaving practice; and (iii) highlighting the impact of ASCII code when encrypting emotionally engaging text into woven textiles at the time to design with Emotional Experience.
