Mit dem Film »Inglourious Basterds« von Quentin Tarantino erschien 2009 ein Kinofilm, der mit seiner Oscar prämierten Figur des SS-Standartenführers Hans Landa einen entscheidenden Beitrag zu jener Deutung und populärkulturellen Wiedergabe des »Schwarzen Ordens« leistet. In vier Schritten untersucht die Studie daher den fiktiven Protagonisten hinsichtlich des zugrunde liegenden Geschichtsbilds und versucht, die Frage nach dessen Authentizität zu klären.
