\nBorgman notes that the use digital collections and computational methods, while widespread in the sciences, is relatively immature in the humanities. Digital humanities are at a critical junction, she argues, and for the community to gain greater acceptance it needs to come together around common projects – like building infrastructure, defining standards, etc. The concern is that programs and funding will be cut if DH cannot define itself as community of practice.
