This section contains two pie charts which total SGA’s budget in 1966-67 and 1967-68. The monetary breakdown of the funding is also provided by Leni Marquit, the SGA’s treasurer in 1967. This source appears neither, objective nor biased. It simply is reporting statistics about student group budgets in the late 1960’s.
\nReflection: The source is helpful to me because it can help students today relate their experiences to the experiences of students in 1967. Many of the groups listed in the 1967 budget are in existence or similar to ones in existence today. These charts help show the progress of the campus expansion and the monetary situation of student groups in 1967.
\nHow useful/relevant to local community & student researchers: This source could be of potential use to researchers looking for information on Student group’s history, or financial sustainability of the college. These statistics are likely relevant to local history because we can assume that groups on campus affect the community they exist in, and the money spent on these groups delineates their importance.

Therefore we can assume that one of the credited writers of the Spring 1958 Leader authored this piece. The original piece of this short opinion article is to persuade the reader in favor of the author’s bias against nuclear energy. The article is also to inform the reader of developments and controversies related in current 1958 science. The source was meant to be public and was circulated on March 4. 1958 – during the events development.

This relates to other sources in my collection because it can allow a student reader today to relate to the sentiments of the 1958 student writer. The topic discussed is a current event at the time of publication and therefore important in American history. The information provide in the Leader can be assumed reliable. The author is biased against the testing of nuclear energy. The goal of the source is to inform people on a current topic and persuade their moral conscience to be cautious of possible disastrous practices.
\nReflection: This source is helpful in connecting the student experience of today with the student experience in 1958. Even though the controversy and topic have evolved, we can relate to how the students would have felt. This article potentially could imply the progression of the late 1950’s in a national context which would soon be projected on the Fredonia University (progress of Lanford years). It helps shape my topic by reinforcing the inclusion of Fredonia University within a national context.
\nHow useful/relevant to local community & student researchers: This source is of potential use to researchers because it gives a student reaction to a national controversy. It is relevant to the local history because the same hesitance to endorse nuclear testing is likely common between students and community members in Fredonia.

The source itself is similar to others we have found. The bias is specifically student based but it is engaging to the researcher and helps sure-up our project.
\nReflection: This source was helpful because it shows the mentality that gripped the student body in the early seventies. It helps researchers to understand the differences between that time and now and what makes them similar.
\nUseful and Relevant: The article could have been written for the next leader and it would not seem out of place. This is why it has potential for local and other historians.

\nReflection: This source was helpful to our theme. It has use to researchres studying alcohol poilicies within the SUNY system at this time. It has helped solidify our theme as a project proposal.
\nUseful and Relevant: It is an interesting resource for local historians or otherwise. More importantly it identifies a common theme through Fredonia's student body history.

Description/Summary: A woman by the name of Aunt Patience created Side Talks with the Girls so that while at the normal school they could have someone to turn to for answers to their most personal questions. Since Aunt Patience was answering the girls' questions she had firsthand knowledge on the topics discussed. Aunt Patience did not have any biases or hidden agendas because she was only giving advice to the girls. The column was meant to be informational and in a way educational because readers of the paper could learn things from the questions the girls asked and for that reason it was meant to be public. Because the paper was published monthly, the amount of time that passed between when someone wrote a letter and when it was answered varied.
\nAuthor: The introduction in the column explains what the column was for and that all questions should be addressed to an \"Aunt Patience.\" Whether Aunt Patience was really the respondent's name or not is unknown. But because she was most likely really a woman, she was qualified to give advice to the girls based on her own personal experiences.
\nIntended Audience: The column was intended for all girls at the normal school and maybe any other students who were interested in receiving some advice. For example, in this particular issue the author stated that one of the letters was written in a man's handwriting.
\nEvaluation/Assessment: This is a useful source because it reveals what girls at the normal school were thinking about outside of academics and more specifically in terms of romance. This source builds upon the other Girl Talk article I have in my bibliography because although the theme is similar the questions and answers are different. The information is reliable in that these were real concerns that the girls had while attending the normal. The point of the column was to provide guidance to students at the school. Because they were living away from home they did not necessarily have that support from their parents.
\nReflection: This source was helpful to me because it added more information to my other Girl Talk annotation and more information to my \"personal lives of girls at the normal school\" theme.

For Primary Sources: The source was created by News Editor Joy Stowell for the purpose of informing the student body of the opportunity to see wonderful speakers at SUNY Fredonia. The creator had firsthand knowledge being a student. The bias is one of persuasion in getting more people to invest their time in seeing these guests. The source was meant to be public.

\nEvaluation/Assessment: This is an extremely useful source because it concisely summarizes the decade of President Oscar E. Lanford and all the growth on campus. This book directly connects to other sources in my collection because it describes one of the monumental changes during my assigned time period. This book gives is able to give some numerous faculty, administration, community, and business viewpoints of the college’s expansion and the Lanford decade. This source is obviously biased in favor of President Lanford.
\nReflection: This source is helpful in constructing the social atmosphere at Fredonia University and in Fredonia community in 1967. Researchers or community members will find this book of interest because it describes the modernizations of the 1960’s and 70’s and the benefits for both the campus and community. This helps me shape my topic because it asserts Fredonia University as a transformative and progressive place.

He is judged by his appearance to a harsh degree. The article illustrates the difficult transition college can be for many. This is why it remains relevant to our theme. Its basis as a story with an anonymous artist seperates it from other sources found. The information is reliable and engaging.
\nReflection: This source is helpful because it is an original primary source. It provides a unique glimpse into the negative aspects of coming to school here. For researchers studying the transition from high school into college this would be an excellent source. It has not changed how I think about my topic overall.
\nUseful and Relevant: Absolutely. It could have been written in a recent edition of the Leader and it would not seem out of place.
