Los resultados demuestran que Colombia es un país con un bajo nivel de inglés, lo cual puede constatarse al cuantificar la proporción de estudiantes y docentes en niveles relacionados con un bajo dominio del idioma, y en los puntajes obtenidos por los colombianos en exámenes internacionales que miden el desarrollo de las distintas competencias lingüísticas. Esta situación es persistente, ya que la evolución reciente del desempeño de los estudiantes en las pruebas de inglés estandarizadas se ha caracterizado por la ausencia de avances significativos.
