in april of 1965, pakistan started an offensive to india controlled kashmir region, which provoked india. india attacked pakistan across its border. but this time, india withdrew.

in august of the same year, once again pakistan launched the offensive against indian ruled kashmir. in early september, india crossed the indo-pakistani border and attacked pakistan again. but three weeks later, both india and pakistan signed the UN arranged ceasefire.
