A response to the interdependent character of public health has been the Health in All Policies (HiAP) approach.\n\nObjectives: With reference to parallels between health and environment, this paper argues that lessons from HiAP are useful for creating a new integrated environmental management approach termed Environment in All Polices (EiAP).\n\nDiscussion: The paper covers the theoretical foundations of HiAP which is based on an understanding that health is strongly socially determined. The paper then highlights how lessons learned from HiAP’s implementation in Finland, California and South Australia might be applied to EiAP. It is too early to learn from evaluations of HiAP, but it is apparent that there is no single toolkit for its application. The properties that are likely to be necessary for an effective EiAP approach include a jurisdiction-specific approach, ongoing and strong leadership from a central agency, independent analysis and a champion. We then apply these properties to Victoria (Australia) to demonstrate how EiAP might work.\n\nConclusions: We encourage further exploration of the feasibility of EiAP as an approach that could make Esta revisão sistemática ocorreu nas bases de dados da Bireme, LILACS, MEDLINE e Scielo com artigos públicos até julho de 2014. Utilizou-se os descritores de busca aos pares, sendo eles: atividade física; exercício físico; atividade motora; ambiente; ambiente construído e percepção do ambiente. Após a identificação por título, adotou-se a triagem dos artigos mediante a inclusão apenas de artigos publicados no Brasil e que atendessem a temática mediante leitura do resumo. Foram encontradas seis produções científicas realizadas no Brasil, com estudos a partir de 2009. Os estudos apresentam um delineamento transversal com amostral representativa. O ambiente foi avaliado com predomínio de métodos indiretos, mediante a escala NEWS. A atividade física foi avaliada de forma indireta, por meio do domínio do IPAQ relacionado ao lazer, com apenas um estudo voltado ao deslocamento. A unidade de análise do ambiente adotada como critério de referência na maioria dos estudos foi de 10 minutos de caminhada. Os resultados apontaram que as estruturas do ambiente como a proximidade de estruturas e serviços, apoio social e segurança estão associados com o aumento da prática de lazer, principalmente, em adultos e idosos. Constatou-se que são recentes os estudos produzidos no Brasil sobre ambiente construído e atividade física, sendo as estruturas ambientais favoráveis ao aumento da atividade física no lazer da
