Multiple factors contribute to adherence, including the influence of patient experience. The purpose of this article is to conduct a systematic review on the influence of patient experience with depression and antidepressant agents on treatment adherence. Thirteen research articles were selected for the review and revealed that patient past experience with depression and antidepressant agents, vicarious experiences, beliefs and attitudes, and the treatment experience itself can impact adherence. It is important for providers to be vigilant with assessment and include patient experience when developing a plan of care. This approach encourages shared decision making and a patient-centered focus for improved management of depression. evaluate the correlations and relative contributions of components of a radiation oncology-specific patient satisfaction survey to their overall satisfaction scores.\nMETHODS AND MATERIALS: From September 2006 through August 2012, we prospectively collected data from 8069 patients receiving radiation treatments with a 26-question survey. Each question was rated on a 10-point Likert scale. We analyzed the correlation between scores for each question and the overall satisfaction question. We also dichotomized the scores to reflect satisfaction versus dissatisfaction and used logistic regression to assess the relationship between items in 4 domains (the patient-provider relationship, access and environmental issues, wait times, and educational information) and overall satisfaction.\nRESULTS: Scores on all questions correlated with overall patient satisfaction scores (P<.0001). Satisfaction with patient-provider relationships had the greatest influence on overall satisfaction (R(2)=0.4219), followed by wait times (R(2)=0.4000), access/environment (R(2)=0.3837), and patient education (R(2)=0.3700). The specific variables with the greatest effect on patient satisfaction were the care provided by radiation therapists (odds ratio 1.91) and pain management (odds ratio 1.29).\nCONCLUSIONS: We found that patients' judgment of provider relationships in an outpatient radiation oncology setting were the greatest contributors to their overall satisfaction ratings. Other measures typically associated with patient satisfaction (phone access, scheduling, and ease of the check-in process) correlated less strongly with overall satisfaction. challenge. The role of spouses, caregivers, and significant others became of salient importance not only because of their supportive functions but also in respect to their own burden. The purpose of this study was to assess the amount of distress in a mixed sample of cancer patients and their partners and to explore the dyadic interdependence.\nMETHODS: An initial sample of 154 dyads was recruited, and distress questionnaires (Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, Symptom Checklist 9-Item Short Version and 12-Item Short Form Health Survey) were assessed over four time points. Linear mixed models and actor-partner interdependence models were applied.\nRESULTS: A significant proportion of patients and their partners (up to 40%) reported high levels of anxiety, depression, psychological distress, and low quality of life over the course of the investigation. Mixed model analyses revealed that higher risks for clinical relevant anxiety and depression in couples exist for female patients and especially for female partners. Although psychological strain decreased over time, the risk for elevated distress in female partners remained. Modeling patient-partner interdependence over time stratified by patients' gender revealed specific effects: a moderate correlation between distress in patients and partners, and a transmission of distress from male patients to their female partners.\nCONCLUSIONS: Our findings provide empirical support for gender-specific transmission of distress in dyads coping with cancer. This should be considered as an important starting point for planning systemic psycho-oncological interventions and conceptualizing further research. However, limited published literature addresses factors influencing use of these reports for performance improvement. To address this gap, we conducted semistructured interviews with leaders of Massachusetts physician groups. We asked about factors influencing groups' use of performance data and report characteristics. Motivating characteristics included having group leaders who emphasized a positive patient experience and prioritized patient retention; public reporting was not an important motivator for most groups. Full physician panels were perceived as a barrier to use of reports. Performance reports from a statewide public reporting collaborative were not sufficient for the majority of groups, with many seeking external reports. Switching barriers did not have a significant association with the tolerance zone.\nPRACTICAL IMPLICATIONS: Private GPs can develop strategies to overcome switching barriers. For example, they can develop personal relationships with their patients, re-familiarise themselves with the patient's medical history before the consultation and provide better services to patients who perceive high switching barriers and hence higher adequate expectations.\nORIGINALITY/VALUE: This study contributes to the existing literature relating to healthcare service quality.",
