Unser Verständnis von Zeit ist eine grundlegende Voraussetzung für planerisches Handeln. Erst eine Vorstellung von Vergangenheit, Gegenwart und Zukunft ermöglicht die gedankliche Vorwegnahme zukünftig vorgesehener Handlungen um mögliche, wahrscheinliche, oder auch wünschbare Zukunftsbilder zu entwerfen und dahingehend zielführend zu handeln und zu planen. Diese Vorstellung von Zeit ist allerdings nicht fixiert oder natürlich gegeben: Zeit hat zwar eine physikalische Dimension, sie ist aber schon immer auch ein soziales Konstrukt gewesen.
