In Billy's travels through time, he never directly goes back to the bombing of Dresden. He does, however, constantly reflect and remember the atrocity that he witnessed. Billy exhibits both intrusive recollection (when the event is constantly intruding on his day to day life...even though he tries to ignore it) and avoidance/numbing (he tries to avoid thinking about it as well as attempts to avoid anything associated with it).
