He had written his book in 2011 and was originally accused of plagiarizing from a book written in 1996. Since the original accusation, more websites have accused him of stealing content from other works as well. At first rabbi Bernheim denied the accusations, but later retracted his denial and blamed it on a student who helped him write the book. Rabbi Bernheim has also been accused of claiming an elite academic honor in Europe and after an investigation, it shows that he did not earn this distinction. \nDespite these accusations, the rabbi has chosen not to resign. Although he has apologized, it does not seem like he is fully accepting the blame.
