Cette convention reconduisait les travaux entrepris en 2004 sur ce territoire et prolongeait la série des quatre études qui visaient à mettre en place les bases d'un programme sur l'anthropisation et les dynamiques socio-environnementales des régions couvertes par le Parc National des Pyrénées (Béarn et Bigorre). Pour la vallée d'Ossau, trois volets ont été abordés : la poursuite des prospections pédestres (entreprises en 2004) sur l'estive d'Anéou (prospection dite fine) ; la réalisation d'une campagne de prospection pédestre destinée à évaluer le potentiel quantitatif et qualitatif du patrimoine pastoral des estives de Bious et de Pombie (prospection dite rapide) ; l'exécution de cinq sondages archéologiques sur des structures pastorales de l'estive d'Anéou. Cette deuxième campagne d'approche systématique du patrimoine pastoral des hautes estives de la vallée d'Ossau a permis d'enrichir le corpus de 81 structures archéologiques à Anéou (dont 16 cabanes, 32 enclos, 9 couloirs de traite, 5 abris, 5 murs, 2 sépultures et 12 structures indéterminées), de 90 structures archéologiques à Bious (dont 1 abri, 21 cabanes, 11 couloirs de traite, 41 enclos, 1 gouffre aménagé, 1 mur, 1 québe et 13 structures indéterminées) et de 109 structures à Pombie (dont 7 abris, 1 abri à agneau, 17 cabanes, 10 couloirs de traite, 28 enclos, 6 murs, 9 québes, 4 sépultures et 27 structures indéterminées). Ces recherches s'articulent autour des questions de l'établissement des grandes séquences d'anthropisation, de leurs chronologies, sur l'étude des formes et des fluctuations des parcellaires et des relations entre les terroirs et les habitats proches. Une opération d'archéologie préventive préalable à un projet d'extension d'une centrale solaire, sur la commune de Targasonne (Pyrénées-Orientales), a été entreprise en 2009. Sur l'emprise du projet se trouvent les vestiges d'un ancien village médiéval (Vilalta) déserté à la fin du Moyen Âge et dont les ruines et une partie du finage, qui culminent à 1750 m d'altitude, ont été réaménagées en zone agropastorale après l'abandon du site. Les contraintes environnementales imposées notamment par la présence de zone de protection écologique, ont obligé à donner à cette opération d'archéologie une forme différente et originale pour ce type d'opération. Sur l'emprise du village, une prospection électrique et magnétique a été mise en place, succédant à une prospection au GPS avec relevés des micro-reliefs tandis que le finage, aménagé en terrasses, a été systématiquement sondé par ouverture mécanique. La confrontation des textes et des documents anciens, des vestiges archéologiques et des datations radiocarbone permet de mettre en évidence une continuité de l'occupation du terroir marquée cependant par d'intéressants hiatus, tant spatiaux que temporels. Les premières traces d'occupation sont datées de la fin du Néolithique avec des vestiges fugaces autour de zones hydromorphes. L'occupation du terroir est nettement plus affirmée à partir de l'âge du Bronze, notamment en bas de versant, au contact de la moraine et d'un cône alluvial probablement actif à cette époque. Il semble que l'on a déjà à faire à un aménagement du terroir structuré par plusieurs murs (terrasses, limites parcellaires ?). On observe ensuite aucune trace d'occupation entre la fin de l'âge du Bronze et l'Antiquité. Il faut attendre le VIe/VIIe siècles pour retrouver les signes discrets d'une reprise de l'occupation. Le Moyen Âge est plus clairement documenté avec la mise en place d'un habitat villageois dès les XIe-XIIe siècles. Il est clairement structuré par une église paroissiale au moins dès le XIIe siècle, et un chemin dont le tracé se lit encore dans le paysage. La morphologie du village, avec des maisons cantonnées à l'ouest et au sud de l'édifice de culte, évoque le modèle du village pyrénéen, bien connu dans les Pyrénées centrales et occidentales. Les séquences mises au jour lors des fouilles de ce village et de son terroir montrent des corrélations intéressantes : une formation villageoise accompagnée d'une première structuration de l'espace en terrasses aux XIème-XIIème siècles, une occupation maximale du village aux XIIème-XIIIème siècles, des réaménagements de terrasses avant le XIVème siècle et un abandon du village vers la seconde moitié du XIVème siècle. Cet abandon s'accompagne d'une nouvelle structuration du terroir. La désertion villageoise ne se traduit pas une déprise du finage mais serait plutôt suivie, assez immédiatement, par son réaménagement (reconstructions des terrasses, décaissements de parcelles et creusement d'un réseau de drainage sophistiqué) avant le début du XVIe siècle. La mise en place d'un nouveau système d'exploitation semble néanmoins respecter peu ou prou le dessin des anciens parcellaires.
